Synopsis
India has successfully tested Agni 5, its most advanced nuclear-capable ballistic missile with a range of over 5,000 km. Equipped with MIRV technology, advanced guidance systems, and a canisterized launch platform, Agni 5 strengthens India’s strategic deterrence. While it marks a big leap in defense capability, the test has also raised fresh concerns in Pakistan over regional stability.
Introduction
In a significant step forward for the country’s strategic defense capabilities, India has successfully tested its most advance missile of all time , Agni-5 intermediate-range ballistic missile on Wednesday from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur, off the coast of Odisha. The launch confirmed all technical and operational criteria, according to the Ministry of Defense.
The Agni-5, a ballistic missile with a range of more than 5,000 kilometers with nuclear capability, which is developed by the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO). It is the most sophisticated missile in the Agni series, which serves as the foundation for India’s nuclear deterrence on land.
The missile is designed in such a way which can carry a nuclear payload up to 1.5 tones and is comprises of lightweight composite materials, which helps in increasing its efficiency and durability.
Agni 5 is equipped with numerous Independently Targetable Re-entry Vehicle commonly know as (MIRV) technology, which allows a single missile to deliver numerous warheads to different targets, significantly increasing its strategic efficacy.

It uses a ring laser gyroscope-based inertial navigation system (RLG-INS) and a micro-inertial navigation system (MINGS), as well as satellite navigation systems such as India’s NavIC and the United States GPS, to achieve pinpoint accuracy.
India’s Agni-5 Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile was successfully test-fired from Chandipur, Odisha.

Agni 5 why Rising Concerns in Pakistan ?
Islamabad: Concern over India’s Agni-5 missile program has increased in Pakistan. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Army Chief Asim Munir received a warning by the Strategic Vision Institute (SVI), located in Islamabad, about the security threats presented by India’s scheduled intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) test later this month. The suggested test may have broad ramifications for regional stability, according to the SVI.
The Islamic Think tank emphasized that after India joined the Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR) in 2016, the country’s missile program accelerated. Access to cutting-edge tools and technology has grown. Further, India has bought drones from Israel and the United States that were allegedly utilized in the confrontation with Pakistan in May.
The group said that agni 5 is a nuclear-capable missiles with a range of over 8,000 kilometers signal India’s intent for greater influence on the world stage. These weapons have the capacity to reach major cities throughout the globe, including Beijing, Moscow, Washington, and all of Pakistan.
Agni 5 : India Expands Naval Strike Power
India’s increasing nuclear-powered submarine presence in the Indian Ocean, equipped with submarine-launched ballistic missiles (SLBMs), was also emphasized by the Pakistan`s SVI. The think tank claims that the continuous testing of sophisticated Agni missile systems demonstrates India’s strategic aspirations and sends a message to its enemies.
The international community should put pressure on India to abstain from measures that might jeopardize regional security, the SVI warned Pakistan’s military and government. The institution called on India to stop its aggressive actions against Pakistan and concentrate on using diplomacy and communication to settle disagreements.
